Although I have been schooled in many therapeutic techniques, I favor the Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy Model.
The CBT Model is designed to alter or eradicate undesirable feelings and unwanted behaviors, such as anxiety, depression and rage. It is also structured to identify and replace the thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and assumptions that have helped to create and maintain these maladies.
In other words, we don’t always have control over what happens in our lives, but we can learn to change the way we respond for the better.
The CBT Model also enables me to utilize what are my assets as a professional and take a more active (rather than passive) role as a therapist. I provide assessment, education, guidance and coaching. Together my clients and I set the direction, pace and reasonable goals of treatment.
